Random pictures

Just thought I'd post some random pictures of Emma.

Took this picture of Emma with her Grandma and Grandpa Sweeney on Friday when we went over for a visit. It's fun that we can do that now that I stay home. Hooray for not working! :)
 

This is the Johnny Jumper that Tara saved for us after her kids were done using it. We use it upstairs (the Jumperoo is in our family room) and now that Emma has gotten the hang of it, she loves it! Besides just jumping, she enjoys chewing on it and just swinging.
 
 

Now that Emma roll around with ease, she's taken to rolling on to her stomach in her crib. I took this picture the first time I found her asleep on her stomach, it was during a nap (for the record, her head was at the other end when I put her in bed.) Tonight she fell asleep on her stomach for the second time. Of course it makes me extremely nervous. So nervous that not too long ago, I went upstairs and turned her over onto her back. Thankfully she didn't wake up!
  

She also moves all around the crib when I put her down for a nap and she isn't quite ready to go to sleep. She kicks the mobile, turns the music on the aquarium and the mobile on and off, lays sideways, rolls around, gets her foot stuck. ;) Eventually, she tires herself out and falls asleep. Usually on her stomach as that's become the perferred sleeping position.

Crazy shirt-on-her-head girl

Last week before her bath, Michael put Emma's shirt on her head. Obviously, more for our entertainment, than her's, but she did seem amused. Not sure if I've mentioned it before or not, but Emma is a fantastic toy! :)

The official six month picture

We took Emma to get her picture taken today. They turned out really well. I had a hard time choosing, but Michael said I was quicker than he thought I'd be! I wanted a picture of her sitting up but her smile in it wasn't as good as in the close-up I chose. She was so good though, happy and smiling and very cooperative! It was a good thing Michael was there though - he got some fantastic smiles out of her.



She's got some crazy hair, doesn't she? Soon I'll have to post a picture of me at her age - mine stuck up just like that!

I know a little girl who's six months old!

And her name is Emma Grace! Took these pictures today in her cute six months shirt. Thanks again Renee! Tomorrow are her official six month pictures. I'm sure Michael's real excited to be going! :) Her six month check-up is Monday, so I'll let you all know how much our little chunk weighs then. She likes rice cereal, oatmeal and carrots. She hated green beans at first but now tolerates them along with peas. She'll get either squash or sweet potatoes Thursday. Monday, we'll start fruits. She goes crazy in her jumperoo. I'll have to post some pictures of that soon. We have trouble getting her in it because she starts to kick her legs the instant you hold her above it. It's pretty funny.
 
 

And these were taken yesterday at Michael's parents' house. She loves her feet (as all babies do) and laid on blanket under a tree playing with them for quite a while.
 
  

Our little sitter-upper

Emma has started sitting up by herself. Granted, if she stops concentrating, she's likely to fall over and land flat on her face. This evening we took her outside and sat her in the grass for the first time.

  
 

Pittsburg, day three, part two

Since Blogger only lets you post so many picture, I'm doing post number two on the Navy submarine the science center is currently displaying. It stopped being used in the late 1960's, not sure about the exact date. It was really intersting to tour it. It was really long and narrow, but there was so much squeezed in there. The showers were so small and the toilet? In a room with pipes! They had it set up as if you were in the '60s, and had a section of memorabilia from sailors who actually sailed on it.
 
 
 

Here's Emma trying out one of the beds. I can't believe the sailors didn't fall off or hit their head. Yes, I know they were used to it. But you've got to think on the first night at least one bumped their head!

My hair was much more interesting than the sub apparently!


After the museum we headed home. It was a fun few days, but we were ready to get home and back in our own beds. Well, I don't know about Emma, but I was ready for her to be in her own bed. I can't sleep with her in the same room. I wake up every time she makes a noise. Michael? Not so much. :)

Pittsburgh, day three

Our main event for day three was the Carnegie Science Center. But first, I had to take some more pictures on our big fluffy bed. The purple toy Emma has? best $3 I've spent. Got a two-pack of these teether/rattles at Babies R Us. She loves them, easy for her to hold and get in her mouth. Purple one is a pig, we also have a sheep.

 
 
 

Emma laughs out loud when you rub your head on her belly. Lately, all Michael has to do is just act like he's rubbing his head on her belly and she still laughs!
  

And a family picture - took quite a few tries to get this. Either Emma was looking out the window or trying to grab a toy.

Not a fan

So we gave Emma green beans yesterday. Yeah, she's not a fan. Didn't like them at all, as if you can't tell by her face in these pictures. Oh, but never fear, we'll try again at lunch today, then dinner, then lunch tomorrow... :) She was pretty happy when I gave her some oatmeal. Then I tried to get all tricky and mix some green beans with the oatmeal. Um, she figured that out pretty quick.





As we've started saying "Boo green beans, Hooray oatmeal!" (We love those Red Stripe commercials.) 

Pittsburgh, day two

Day two started out awfully slowly. We slept in - but only after getting back to sleep. Emma woke up extra early, earlier than she's been up in weeks. Her schedule got really messed up and today (Saturday 8/5) we've finally got her back on it. Anyway, we headed out to South Side Works, a very cool outdoor mall. It was 95 degrees and the stores were such a relief from the heat.

Took this picture at Joseph Beth Booksellers. Emma is really into Michael's hat lately, loves pulling it off, and on occasion, tries to eat it. :)
 


Once we got back to the hotel, we relaxed and napped before we had to meet Abby and Marty at IKEA. We had the best bed - king sized with tons of pillows. And it was perfect for pictures of Emma.
 
 
  

We met Marty and Abby that evening at IKEA. Such a cool store. I surprised Michael by only walking through the store once and being done in 1 1/2 hours. I admit, I surprised myself!

Pittsburgh, day one

We decided to take a mini vacation this week and our original plan was to go to Hocking Hills and rent a cabin. But, 95-degree heat waves aren’t really good for hiking and such so we went with plan B – Pittsburgh. Michael has been to Pittsburgh many times but I haven't. Not sure why since it's only a two-hour drive.

On our itinerary - Meeting up with Leslie, Ikea with Marty and Abby and the Carnegie Science Center. Not on our itinerary - driving in circles due to lack of street and directional signs! Yet somehow, this is what we did the most of. :)

We got to Pittsburgh early Tuesday afternoon after stopping at two scrapbook stores along the way. After driving around for a bit (both on purpose to explore and due to, as stated previously, lack of street and directional signs) we checked in at the hotel and took a little nap. Then we met Leslie for dinner at Station Square. Very cool place, love the fountains and the view of Pittsburgh. It's an awesome place to hang out, relax, talk. Loved it.
