Please don't eat the bib.

For a couple days this week, Emma decided that her bib tasted better than the rice cereal we were attempting to feed her. Now while I've never had rice cereal, I have to think that it tastes better than plastic, but hey, what do I know?!

Nice Hair!

Emma, I'm sorry to say it, but I think you've got my stand-straight-up-and-not-lay-down-no-matter-how-many-times-you-wet-it-and-brush-it hair. This is what mine looked like as a baby. You'll have to ask your Aunt Tara about it when you get older. She'll tell you how her friends used to make fun of me and how mad she got. I promise though, it won't last forever!

And Renee, this picture is for you. In case you can't tell, Emma is sticking her tongue out at you - it's her way of saying "Are you EVER going to scrap the pictures my mom sent you when she was pregnant with me? You know, waaaaay back, like in November??"

Daddy's Girl

I've taken some really cute pictures of Emma with her Daddy recently. First up, a couple sleeping pictures. Adorable, aren't they? :) He loves snuggling with Emma. In the first picture, Emma was so tired, but wouldn't sleep, was fussing. Cuddling with Daddy put her right to sleep!

Michael is soooo a Mr. Mom, right?

And at the pool last week. Michael says he's going to take Emma to the pool by himself so he can pick up chicks. Chicks love babies. And he'd be only one of two, maybe three guys there. He thinks he's taking her to Beachwood Mall, too. Men. ;)

The Most Annoying Sound In The World

You know the Most Annoying Sound In The World from Dumb and Dumber? Yeah, Lloyd's got nothing on Emma. It's this awful yelling sound that she's just recently discovered she can make. And she makes it All. The. Time. Here she is in action:

5 months!

So, as of this past Saturday the 15th, Emma is 5 months old. Of course, that meant we did a little photo shoot. Decided to try outdoors. Not real happy with the lighting but I still got some good pictures. Here are a few favorites:

Went swimming at the pool today - took our nieces and nephew. We had such a great time and I think Emma enjoyed it too. She was in the pool for quite a while. We were lucky in that it wasn't too hot or too sunny.

And yesterday we tried rice cereal for the first time. The girl loved it!!! She kept grabbing the spoon and shoving it in her mouth. Contrary to what you might think after seeing how much is on her face, she actually ate quite a bit. :)

In other Emma news, we had quite a scare Sunday night. Called the pediatrician around 11pm because Emma was having trouble breathing. Michael was much calmer than I was, although we were both scared. Michael put her mattress on the floor next to our bed so she be close to us. It was either that, or I slept on the floor in her room. Figures we put the bassinet in the shed the week before. I was up until 1:30 watching her breathe. We took her to the doctor yesterday and she thinks it was a spasmodic croup attack. At least if it happens again we know what to do so we won't freak out quite so much. Ok, so I won't freak out quite so much. ;)

Emma finally rolled over again this past Sunday. And this time I got it on tape! Woo hoo! I was thinking she was a one hit wonder since it'd been two weeks!

Working backwards...

So I’m going to work backwards until I’m caught up. I’ve really been slacking on the blog and I don’t have an excuse, since I’m home all day, every day…well most days!

Emma is growing like a weed! I can’t believe how big she’s gotten. She’ll be 5 months on Saturday and that following Monday we’re going to start rice cereal. I could’ve started it last month, but we’re not really in any hurry. She started sucking her toes a few days ago. Drives Michael crazy! Ha ha! And we’ve been putting her in the jumper, both the doorway one from Tara’s kids and a Jumperoo that is in the living room. She grabs at anything – hair, food, plates, books, the remote – if it’s in her reach it’s going in her mouth. And if she can’t pick it up, well then her mouth goes to it!

Here are some pictures from the last week or so.

First up, Emma on Sunday at Michael’s game. Grandma Sweeney was holding her. As you can see, she was intently watching the game and not paying any attention to me at all. (7/9/06)

Fourth of July was spent at Michael’s cousin’s. It was pretty rainy which worked out for us, we didn’t have to worry about Emma getting overheated or sunburned. This girl is a mini Gene Simmons from KISS. She is always sticking her tongue out, moving it around, licking her lips. It’s hilarious! (7/4/06)

And this is what happens when you don’t strap Emma into the bouncy seat. She wiggles her way down until her butt is hanging off. Didn’t seem to bother her too much though. (7/3/06)

Father's Day

Only two weeks behind, right?

Here are a few pictures from Father's Day. Father's Day was great. I made Michael a mini-album, excuse me, Emma made Michael a mini-album, about all the reasons he's the best dad ever. I'll have to post a few pages of it. She also got him a cute picture frame and a Ohio State sunshade for his car window. Always thinking sports, she is! We went to Marty's church in the morning to hear him preach, got there late of course. And got called out on it too! ;) Then to lunch at Ruby Tuesdays with Marty, Abby, Ray and Althea. After spending some time at Marty and Abbys, Ray, Althea, Emma and I went to Michael's game. We sat on a blanket with Emma - she had the best time watching the leaves. She just laid there and laughed and smiled. And I of course took a gazillion pictures. We had ice cream cake that night when we got home. How cute is the baseball cake?! I wanted to do a pink baseball but the cake was too small. I was pretty happy when I picked it up and saw they made it into baseball. Pretty smart, those DQ workers. :) Anyway, here are the pictures:
